GS overnight ride - Witteberg Private Nature Reserve - 24-25 March

We are planning an overnight, off road ride to the Witteberg Private Nature Reserve, nestled in the heart of the Witteberg Mountains south west of Matjiesfontein for the weekend of 24 – 25 March 2012. Warren and Natalie Ellwood will be your hosts for the weekend. The ride should suit riders of all levels.

The campsite in the middle of the reserve offers shaded camping areas and two full bathrooms with hot showers. As you can see, it’s camping accommodation only on this trip. 

Once again, we will need to be self sufficient food wise for this weekend, and will need to prepare our own meals on Saturday night around the fire. We will make sure there is coffee and rusks for early Sunday morning and we will stop in at Touwsriver for a late breakfast at Steers. 

The club will also provide the usual honesty bar on Saturday evening.

The routes we will ride will include some awesome roads in greater Karoo area, loads of stunning scenery, for the most part very decent dirt and a visit to the Floriskraal Dam. Included on the way home will be the amazing piece of road that a group of us went to recce in December last year. There is a short stretch of sand along here but nothing to worry about; we will make sure everyone gets through as usual, even me.

The ride will be accompanied by a back up vehicle and trailer as usual for peace of mind and to carry your goodies if need be, but remember the idea behind these trips is to get you carrying your own stuff eventually, thereby cutting down on what you take with you. 

Costs:

Your R150.00 covers your camping accommodation, wood, morning snack with coffee and a contribution towards the costs of our back up crew. I will also see if I can convince Natalie to sponsor another one of those pink fish for Saturday night. 

Please note that if you have not paid your subs, it’s going to cost you the extra R120.00 to join this ride. Not negotiable.
