PILLION COURSE
The club is putting a pillion course together on Sat 24 Jul. It will be an all day course in Stellenbosch, presented by Johan - JdJ.
The event has been prompted by the Wild Coast trip which is a challenging tour and there are quite a few brand new bikes going (with riders and pillions attached to their computers).
Cost per couple will be :
Paid Up Members - R250
Non Members - R 300
First come first served with preference given to those going on the Wild Coast tour in August.
Hi Peter,
Could you please put Sian and myself on the list.
Regards
Trevor
I suggest this is an "off road" pillion course?
If so it is a course well worth attending.

Oops, yes definitely offroad. Standing, balancing, weight distribution, correct position etc etc for offroad conditions.
I/we would like to join; please put us on the list.
We meet at Klein Joostenberg Deli for coffee at 0830 this coming Saturday 24 July.
Names so far:
Martin and Annine
Pete and Di

We don't want too many more, but if there are any more takers let me know.

Thank you Johan and Tracey for spending the day with us all at the rider/pillion training.
Every since seeing you "in action" on the Gifberg trip I've dreamt about riding two-up with the same ease and fluidity. OK, no real dreams, but you get the idea.
Today I learnt that I have a long (very long) way to go! I guess a few hundred kilometres of gentle off-road riding cannot "compete" with the experience gained over a few hundred thousand kilometres.
All is not lost however! Although I struggled today (and probably did not complete a single exercise 100% successfully) I now know what needs to be done in order to start improving. I'll be looking for a suitable soft, grassy area near home and start with the basics - clutch control, balance, weight distribution, etc.
We'll definitely be back at the next pillion trainnig opportunity!
Thanks to Pete for organising and Johan and Tracey for putting us through our paces and giving us renewed faith in our relationships - for any relationship that survives pillion training and riding can surely overcome any other obstacle?
We learned a lot, the highlight for me was definitely the moment when I realised that Janetta and I are riding the bike together ... now I feel we're ready for the Transkei!
Thanks guys!
Hi everyone,
You are welcome, Tracey and I really enjoyed the day. Thank you to all of you for joining and remember to practise those drills.
I want to organise that nice outride I told you about, so please mail me at johandjgr@gmail.com if you are interrested.
Regards
Johan & Tracey
Thanks a stack Johan for taking the time to help your fellow Club members.
It is even more appreciated as I know you have just bought the new house and that this is taking up lots of your time.
Sincere appreciation from all concerned.
Thanks Johan, Tracey and all those who took part ... you all contributed! It was great learning experience and it never fails to amaze me how easily one can forget the basics if you don't practice!
Thanks you Johan,Tracy, Peter and Di for all the effort you put in to making the training possible. The exercises were interesting and my confidence in riding with a pillion has increased greatly.Even though i dropped the bike often trying to do the exercises, i know Sians trust in my ability has also increased.I was impressed at how relaxed she was on the back of the bike. This is what happens when you spend two days pillioning with Geoff.
After all the spectacular dismounting antics on Saturday Sian was a bit stiff on Sunday, but she said enjoyed the course thoroughly.
All we need to do now is practise as often as we can.
As always the spirit was great.
THANK YOU!
Thank you Peter & Di for organizing and Johan & Tracey for presenting such a brilliant off road pillion course. Johan, your hands on approach backed by the experience you and Tracey have from spending lots of kilometres in the saddle was truly inspirational to us all. Anna-Marie and I thoroughly enjoyed our first off road course "outside the Back-up".

Neels, now that you guys are riding that b.e.a.youtiful 1150 are you going to change your forum username - or does it now mean that if you fall off you always get "back up"?
Johan, Tracey, Peter, Di and everyone on the course - Thanks for excepting Felicity and me into the group the way you did, and special thanks to Johan and Tracey for your trouble and patience with us. We did the short route recomended by you guys via Botrivier and vd Stel pass - what a differance! If you battle with your pillion - ask Johan - well done Johan!
We are now waiting for all of you in George.
