Prepsol vs Cleen Green ?

What is your view on these two products to clean your bike? I've heard that prepsol works well on mud/dirt but what about the chain on the 650? Also what do you suggest for seat treatment? To keep is shiny and black :-) Cheers, Corné Kloppers ckloppers@cybersmart.co.za 084 913 0391

Hi Corne, The way that I
Hi Corne, The way that I have been tought (by the guys that know and that has been in this game for years) is to first "rinse" the bike with water by using a high pressure cleaner - this you can get from MIDAS for a bout R800. Let the bike drip dry for a while and then by using something similiar to a "spray can that you use for spraying poison in the garden" (if that makes any sense) spray the bike with a 50% water and 50% Prepsol mix and let drip dry again. Again take the high pressure unit and spray off with just water, afterwards you can use Mr. Min to clean the bike after it has dried off. This really works well. As for the chain - speak to the guys in the workshop at Atlantic as I am sure they have something that you can get from them to use. Keep it SAFE !!

Spray bike off with hose
Spray bike off with hose pipe after ride. Leave to dry. Spray entire bike with Prepsol (easiest from a pressurised container) mixed approximately 50-50 (I put a bit more water in) with water. Leave for 10 minutes. Spray of with preferably a high pressure cleaner or the hose pipe. High pressure cleaner works much better. Leave to dry or dry with a chammy. Remember, especially with the bikes with screens, not to clean the screen with a cloth when washing the bike. Use some soap on your hand (take your ring off) and gently wash the screen, then rise it off. When drying it use a chammy and DO NOT RUB IT. Just dab (pat) it dry. Once the bike is dry you can use Mr Min and a soft dish cloth. Remember the cloth must be clean and start by spraying MR Min on the screen and wiping it off. I suggest you do not spray the entire bike with Mr Min in 1 shot. Rather do small sections at a time.

Thanks for all the tips and
Thanks for all the tips and advice. I'm generally doing what you guys suggest in terms of cleaning, however I've been using Cleen Green all this time. I will give Prepsol a try. My 2c tip: I always put a plug in my pipe to prevent any water from entering it and I always start the bike right after I've used water on it. MR Min / Pledge works like a bomb! I also use some WD40 on all the handle bar knobs like the indicator, lights etc. and on the stand hinges and foot peg hinges. I also put some WD40 on my clutch cable. However I'm very careful not to get any WD40 on my foot pegs and brakes! The Harley Shop has a very cool wheel-and-spoke brush. It really saves a lot of time to clean your spokes! Happy cleaning :-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

A paint brush sprayed with
A paint brush sprayed with a little bit of Mr Min works well to clean those "hard to reach" places. Don't forget to wash the brush every now and then! As for the chain on the 650, just remember to lubricate it after each wash. IMO diluted Prepsol or Cleen Green won't do any damage to the seals. I believe I can fly!

Please use extreme caution
Please use extreme caution when using a high pressure cleaner aroung the wheel bearing seals and so on, also remember electronics do not like water either. Bum in the saddle, always.

Nee AJ. I believe I can fly!

Neil remember riding out
Neil remember riding out front has its advantages, the main one is I get to quickly wipe the bike and pat the dust off my clothing before you guys get to me, so I just "appear" clean. Interesting that you mention this on our Sunday beginners ride one of the guys asked me "do you ever ride your bike off road"?, obviously I had to concede that I don't really and stick 99% to the tar!!!!!!!!! Viva Prepsol, Viva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My experience:After the Transkei trip I went to Geoff to fetch our kit,Geoff was washing his bike;He offered to wash mine !!!!![sans bikini though!]I was given the spray bottle of Prepsol ,did as directed, Geoff did the rest, I did chamios duty then Voila a clean bike !!!!!Geoff thanks again for a clean bike but thanks even more for not wearing your bikini! Conclusion: great method!!!
