Riders years of experience

I did a bit of riding 20 years ago and would like to start riding again.
Started my bike riding with a little 100cc 2-stroke Yamaha scrambler which I rode for years until I fell off hard. After a hiatus of about 4 years, I’ve come back to the world of biking and haven’t looked back since :) I currently own a 1983 Yamaha XT 600 Ténéré and (recently) a 2008 BMW R1200R.
My name is Cecil Hill, married to Celesta, resident in the Helderberg (Strand) with two young adult daughters. I owned a road bike in a former life, but have just recently acquired the Adventure, as the second step towards fulfilling a lifelong dream of both Celesta and myself, to experience the sights, sounds, touch and tastes of Africa in the best way possible - on motorcycles. Our immediate goal is to learn and develop the skills necessary to undertake such a journey starting, roughly, around 2015. Mwendo - the name of my bike - is a kiSwahili word with several English translations, including: voyage, journey (safari), travel, movement, speed, course and my personal favourite, "means of getting there"!

I ride an F650GS 2006 model with just more than 100 000km on the clock. Bought her in May 2011 with 54000 so that means I have done 46000 km in the last two years. When given a choice between tar or gravel I will take the gravel every time. I am the branch manager for World of Accessories in Tygervalley. My Real name is Hanno Prinsloo

Hi my name is Kathy Malherbe and I first started riding three years ago with the Journey of Hope ride. I am no longer involved in JOH but couldn't give up the riding! A friend has two bikes so has lent me his Suzuki but I need to return it soon so I am looking at buying a BMW. I am a journalist (feature writer not reporter) and I sometimes test ride bikes but mostly high-end cars -because of the readership of the magazine. There is nothing I love more than getting on the bike on a weekend and clearing my head so I am quite keen to join the club when I get my bike. I am looking at a dual purpose bike like the Dakar 650 as I really enjoy off road as well.

Hi, Tian here. Got my first BMW (an R75/5) at the tender age of 19 in 1986 ... always loved 'em! Had another Beemer (R100) but no bikes in my life for about 15 years - started again at the beginning of 2009 with my shiny new 800gs, and this is my first foray off-road, hence the 1-2 years experience level. Update (April 2011): after an incident with a cage my 800gs got written off. HP2 is my new bike.

My name is Charl and I haven't been on a bike for nearly 15 years... previous one was a KDX200. Bug has bitten big time though... currently shopping for R1200C. Figured I'll try a cruiser as I do all my offroading on 4 wheels. UPDATE: As a temporary measure I'm riding a Sachs MadAss 125. What fun! UPDATE AGAIN: Can't stop grinning about the cruiser!
