Winter riding- sorting men from the boys
Okay, so now from today, I'm officially lonely on the roads.
Apart from the odd delivery Twister (Honda 250) and the odd superbike, the bikes have disappeared like mist before the sun.
Temps on the road are still at 12ºC dropping to 9ºC around N2 Macassar and the cars are driving like idiots.
The rain is the big separator.
Last night I had steady rain all the way N1, R300, N2 and must have just called it wrong 'cos it only started to rain as I left work and stopped as I went into home roost.
I came in today in a lovely heavy downpour at 06H22.
Went out again at 09H00 and not one bike on the road.
Noticed them getting less n less oiver the last week..
So farewell all you fair weather travellers; see you when you get back on your bikes in Spring.
To those still riding, enjoy the clear filter gaps, watch those cars, have a safe commuting winter.

Ek moes vanmiddag gou Marinda se F650 in Somerset gaan haal vir die boegoeberg trip. Op pad soontoe was my gemoed maar laag. Ek gee nie om hoe die weer is nie, ry bly lekker. Die koue en ander mal padgebruikers is my bekommernis. En toe kry ons nog hael op pad soontoe ook.
Die trippie terug Durbanville toe was toe nie so sleg, dit het alles ingesluit vanaf sonskyn tot 'n klein stormreen stuk. Op R300 het 'n bakkie die pad byster geraak en weer net gewys dat 'n mens moet OPLET.
Alles nou in tuimeldroeer om droog te wees vir more se trip.
Mooiweer, reenweer, geenweer is almal ryweer.

Maar gelukig het die kaap tot nou toe nog noooit so aanmekaar gereen sonder eindkry nie.
Suidooster waai ja beslis, maar reen, nee nog nie.
everyday and so far have managed not to get (too) wet.
What really worries me are those crazy guys on their little ity-bity bikes riding in jeans and a tracksuit top WITHOUT gloves! Man that must be cold.
You are not alone. I commute. Pringle Bay road was a bit hairy yesterday though.

Kinda knew you'd be amongst the all weather commuters.
I'm sure Mr. Badger is also on the roads carrying the boss' husband on his daily commute.
I must say, I'm surprised to be well into me second full year in a Vuka Rainsuite ans no crotch leaks yet.
Or any other leaks.
I used to wonder why I collected neck buffs.
But when winter comes with the seasonal winter wet I can use all 4 buffs in a week.
Annie also rides through the wet in preference to sokkoling in heavy traffic in the Jeep.
But after that tragic head on collision on the Pass last night, I think she'll reconsider all her Grabouw trips to the farmers.
I too are still riding everyday, but then we don't get rain usually. Today it all of a sudden started raining. Not nice in a place where rain doesn't happen every year, roads are super slippery and most drivers look at the rain instead of the road. My Vuka suit has only been used twice in 3 years, and never near home.
